| Marialisa completely restored her great-grandfather's home and converted it into a comfortable and efficient lodging. She decided to offer all the trimmings of a hotel, with amenities such as satellite TVs, mini bars, and telephones in rooms, plus daily cleaning service. The terraced front of the pale-yellow villa is lined with terra-cotta vases of flowers and intoxicating wisteria vines. Upon entering the home, you pass through a small reception area with brick arches and equestrian prints into the luminous breakfast room where a buffet is served in the morning. Accommodations are scattered about the large, pristine home on various levels and are each similarly appointed in soft-green and mustard hues with sparkling new white bathrooms. Reproduction armoires and desks and wrought-iron beds harmonize well with the brick floors and high, beamed ceilings. There is a small pool at the back of the house and Marialisa offers cooking classes, teaching secrets of genuine Tuscan dishes. Marialisa is devoted to the well-being of guests and as a native of the area is a rich source of information. |
