| In the 1826 almanac of Arles, it is written that the "baron of Chartrouse has just built a façade as elegant as the houses of the Antin causeway". The group of buildings around the tree-planted courtyard, is indeed spectacular. The monumental gateway sets the tone. The most important building is very close to those built in Paris around 1820, by the architects Percier and Fontaine. |
